TCC Railroad Training, Consulting, Staffing

History and Purpose

The Training and Consulting Connection (TCC) was founded in 1991 by Jim Meier following his 15 year career with the Union Pacific Railroad. While at the UPRR Jim served as a consultant, trainer and coach to nearly every department and worked with staff at all levels of the organization including labor unions, customers and vendors. With this comprehensive background Jim launched TCC to serve as a training and consulting partner for companies seeking skilled and dependable experience.

Soon after forming the business Jim began adding trainers and consultants with wide ranging backgrounds to meet the demands of TCC customers. Since the mid ‘90s, TCC has completed numerous projects with as many as 70 trainers/consultants. TCC has served railroads with projects such as training new hires and engineers, implementing computer systems, leadership, management, team and innovative skills development and facilitating mergers and department consolidations.

TCC, with it’s well developed structure and resource base is well positioned to help the rail industry be more profitable, safer and more efficient. TCC helps shorten projects and alleviates or eliminates the need to have company employees perform project tasks which frees company employees to do their jobs.

TCC remains focused, as it did from its inception, on a simple yet powerful purpose:

To customized, high quality and cost competitive training and consulting specialty services to the rail industry as well as other businesses using:

  1. A large, highly qualified and experienced talent pool of contractors to fulfill small, mid-sized and large projects that require technical, leadership or management consulting, training and coaching.
  2. An internal infrastructure built to be focused, fast, flexible, friendly and fiscally sound.

TCC’s goal is to continually earn customer loyalty and therefore, experience disciplined, steady growth. From a handful of customers in 1991, TCC has served over 300 organizations to date.

Looking ahead, as business and industry world-wide continues to create or respond to turbulent, white-water type changes, TCC will help those organizations remain goal oriented and upright. This includes securing and effectively positioning those baby boomer generation resources who possess a wealth of talent and experience and are eager to continue to share it.
